Todd,
I have been looking at some pay scales for different airlines. I am a little confused about hours per month. The pay scales list for example: 72 Line / 75 Reserve for guaranteed hours. What exactly does that mean? Do you fly more than 75 hours most months or is that about the norm? Thanks in advance for your answers. Jeff |

Jeff,
The 75 hour guarantee means that you will be paid a minim of 75 hours per month. On reserve, you will be on call (normally a 2 hour response to the airport) for 4-5 days per week. Whether you fly or not, you will be paid the 75 hours. If you fly over 75 hours, you will be paid the excess. If you are not on reserve, you will have a set schedule that will have at least 70 hours (usually closer to 85 hours) of flying and little to no "on call" time. It's sort of like being on salary unless you fly over 75 hours per month. The only other pay will be per diem which is anywhere from $1.50 to $2.50 per hour that you are away from your base. Currently I am on a 3 day trip and will be paid my flight time plus $1.65 per hour that I am gone. This particular trip is 50 hours of per diem. Last month, I was credited for flying 87 hours and had something like 280 hours of per diem. I think our last posts may have crossed paths. I went into more detail in the other thread rather than the introduction thread. If I didn't cover it well enough in that FBO vs ATP post, keep asking questions and I'll clear it up for you. Talk to you later, Todd

Hi Jeff,
I haven't heard from you in a while. Just checking in to see how things are going. Did those answers help clear up the questions about the flight time? I hope all is well. Best Regards, Todd

Thanks for checking back with me. The answers did help. I have been busy with my military career but still looking at getting pilot training next year when I get off active duty. It looks like the Post 9/11 GI Bill will pay for 100% of my training if I take it through a college and there is one in the area where I live that offers the classes. Thanks again for your help and stay safe.
