Default introduction

Hi my name is Maciej Pulawski, and I am a full time student at Western Michigan University. Right now I am working on finishing my instrument rating, and then going to begin multi commercial.
I have really been worrying about getting a job after college... Recently, my friend said that the best place to go is overseas to find a job right away. Is that true? Also, by the time I graduate in 2012, will airlines be hiring again?

Maciej,

Welcome to the forums. It's true that a lot of people go overseas to get airline job. Most of those people are pilots furloughed from airlines like United, US Airways, and Midwest. The point I'm trying to make is, yes you can go over and find a job easier but a majority of those pilots have a lot of experience and usually have already flown the airplane like an airbus or 737. Most likely you'll have to start out here in the US were regional hire with much less experience until you build up your time.

I have no idea what the airline industry will be doing tomorrow let alone in 2012. The good news is that someone is usually hiring. It may not be your airline of choice but there are options out there.

Thanks for taking the time to make your first post. These forums are a great place to get up-to-date information from professional pilots. I wish I had this tool when I was starting out. Please take the time to post all your questions and I’ll do my best to answer them. With me being on the road and traveling a lot it might take me a couple of days to answer you. The only request I have is to separate out each question into it’s own thread so others searching can easily find it.

Thanks, and again welcome to the forums.

Clint
