Hi, my name is Vanessa Pierce, 28, and currently a freelance writer. I've always been obsessed with flying as my dad was a fighter pilot in the Air Force. I worked at a seaplane business in Seattle when I was young, working trade for some flight lessons. I have always loved travel and adventure, and want to re-invent myself and get into a career with long-term stability and adventure. I'm seriously thinking about flight school, and just wanted to ask join the forum to get more info. Thanks!

Vanessa,
Welcome to the forums. Did you work Kenmore Air? I love that place and want to get my sea plane rating their. I really want to fly beavers and otters. Very cool. How much time did you get? Thanks for taking the time to make your first post. These forums are a great place to get up-to-date information from professional pilots. I wish it were around when I started. Please take the time to post all your questions and I’ll do my best to answer them. With me being on the road and traveling a lot it might take me a couple of days to answer you. The only request I have is to separate out each question into it’s own thread so others searching can easily find it. Thanks, and again welcome to the forums. Clint

Hi Clint, I got my start at Seattle Seaplanes (or at least my love for flying), which is across the lake from Kenmore. A family friend owns it, and I always thought taking off/landing on the water was so amazing and beautiful! I did work for trade (air time), but I only got through the beginning of some ground school and a few trips in the plane before I had to quit and get back to soccer fulltime. I had to concentrate on that, and it paid off, got a scholarship to University of Washington. Good times, but have always wanted to go back to flying.

Very cool. Our house is a Husky house. Go Huskies! It's too bad what happened to your quarterback last season. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my son will attend medical school at UW when he grows up.
