Hello Ben
I really apologize for taking so long to respond to your post! I somehow lost your post in cyberspace and didn't even realize until today that you had put your question on the board. I can certainly understand the challenge of coming up with adequate funds to afford flight training! Like anything else worthwhile in life, it takes a lot of effort, a lot of money, and a lot of time to build a really good job in this industry. The good thing about your experience with food service is that restaurants are everywhere so you can probably find a place to work and earn money just about anywhere you choose to relocate for flight training. As for financial aid, the best way to get financial aid advice is to call ATP directly. I really don't know much about the loan programs currently available to students. I definitely used financial aid (student loans) to complete the program when I attended. Also, as for GPA requirements, you should have two years of college experience and you should have a fairly good gpa, but there is no "set" requirement for gpa. I do, however, then that ATP would be very hesitant to accept anyone with a clearly terrible GPA, as it would probably indicate that the person really doesn't commit themselves to anything very well. Keep your head up and your dreams alive! Let me know if there's any way I can help you further. J |
