Hi Bobby. Hope you are doing well. It has been a little while since we last talked.
It has been about 2 years since I finished ATP in Atlanta. I have about 1300 TT and 200 multi, Gold Seal CFI. I am planning on getting the ATP this year. I was put into the pool at Mesa in July of 2008, but was never assigned a class date. They have since furloughed hundreds of pilots and entered bankruptcy. Right now I am still instructing and hoping to get a 135 job. I have 135 IFR mins. But the competition is intense for the few jobs out there. I have not received any callbacks. I am curious as to the staffing situation at Pinnacle. I saw on Airline Pilot Central that there have been no furloughs, but also that there are CAs being displaced to FO. Is there any talk at Pinnacle of improvement in the situation? |

Matt--
In terms of flight time you're doing ok for being just a couple years out of training. Also nice work on the Gold Seal! Pinnacle has had 0 furloughs, but they did displace 30 Captains back to First Officer. I don't remember for certain when this happened but I believe close to a year ago. Compared to many other airlines we've avoided some negative situations, and we continue to make a profit. I haven't heard any talks of any Captain upgrades, but if we were to obtain additional flying or airplanes at some point this would force hiring. Also in a couple years when the age 65 rule pushes some senior Captains out the door this will make a need to hire also. How's the instructing going for you? What do you like the most and the least about it? Bobby |
