Hey Bobby! I'm 19 and currently attending college. I've loved aviation since the first time I flew in a plane when I was 10, and my dad also flew his own plane which has influenced me some. Sadly he sold his plane before I came around.
I went up on an introductory flight 2 months ago and absolutely loved it! I can't wait to get started on my training! Unfortunately though flying is having to be put on hold until I'm done with college, but if everything stays on track it will only be two more years. I really want to be an international pilot. Any advice? |

Nice to meet you, Molly!
Glad you took an introductory flight, I always recommend that so you can see if a true excitement and passion for flying exists. Also not a bad call to continue with college, education is important and it's always good to have a degree as a backup with any career. In the meantime you'll be able to to research and gather necessary info related to aviation. What's your current major? International flying is the ultimate goal for many pilots, and one that normally takes years, if not decades to achieve. Whether flying international for an airlilne or cargo company these positions are usually very senior, and it takes awhile to build up to this. There are other charter/corporate companies that fly international, but it does take time and experience to qualify for these jobs. In the meantime other airline or corporate flying is exciting and can be rewarding. Please ask any other questions you have. Bobby |

I knew it would take a while to work my way up to being an international pilot but that is my goal. I can not wait to start flying!
Right now my major in college is marketing with a double minor in english and psychology. In the long run staying in college benefits me greatly and like you said, it is always good to have a back up. |

Wow, I bet you're busy with that school workload! You'll develop some good study habits and should transition well to the aviation world.
In the meantime you can begin to think about all of your future goals like where you'd like to live (if you have a preference) and become familiar with flight training and the processes involved so you'll be ready. http://www.aopa.org http://www.studentpilot.com http://www.flightinfo.com http://www.jetcareers.com Above are some random links to websites, some of them message boards that have a lot of useful information regarding aviation and flight training. This may spur other questions to ask also. (Keep in mind the posts are mainly opinion oriented so read with an open mind!) Bobby |
