Hi, my name is William - I go by Bubba...(from SC). I'm currently in the USAF; serving as B52 Instructor Navigator. I started flying at 15, and only hold a PPL (ASEL) with approx 140ish hrs. I'm seriously pursuing the comm pilot career path and am a few months away from transitioning into the reserve component (part-timer). I'll most likely be located in the NW Louisiana area (Shreveport) and am interested in flight training programs in the Dallas/San Antonio/Houston area. I also have VA benefits that can be applied to some programs (I think it's limited to part 141 schools)
Thanks for any info you might have, All the best, Bubba |

Hiya, Bubba.
First things, first... thank you for your service. You are very appreciated. Welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll have lots of questions about ATP specifically or flight training in general. I'm here to help answer them as honestly as possible so that you make the best choices for your career. As far as VA benefits are concerned, most of ATP's training centers, including all the ones that you mentioned, are conducted under Part 61 and ineligible for VA benefits. HOWEVER, the Panama City, FL location is specifically operated under part 141 and is the destination location for all students wishing to use their VA benefits. Now, you CAN use your VA benefits for FAA examiners fees for checkrides, even at the part 61 schools. That can still save you several thousand dollars, even if you can't make it out to Panama City for your training. If you haven't found it yet, I'd like to point you to ATP's VA Web Page for complete information. I'll be happy to help sift through it if you have additional questions. Thanks again for stopping in. I hope to hear from you again, soon. Jeremy |
