Default FIA and AGI complete

Hey Bob, how are ya?
Do you remember a few weeks before I started the program in PHX, I had just completed the IRA and FII exams in Utah, and I had mentioned to you that I would just wait til I got to PHX to finish the rest of them? And you said that was a good idea "IF" I followed through. Well, this last Monday I took the CAX and passed with a 99%, and I just barely got back from the airport today(thursday), I took the FIA(97%) and AGI (99%). So I am all done with those 5 exams. I still would like to take the IGI and so I will crack open the instrument book once again and get ready for that exam. So it feels good to get those done.
I guess it's kind of a good thing that my instructor has stayed busy with two 90 day students this week because it has given me extra time to study for the writtens, as well as finish my daily quizzes, and I'm almost done with that CFI pretest, I just have a few pages left. So I'll finish the IGI, and then I will dig into the Instrument oral exam guide to prepare for that checkride.

Regarding the Inst. oral exam guide, is the best way to study for that just to read through it as many times as you can before the checkride or what? Maybe it just depends on each person.

Well, I hope all is well. Take care.

Hey Bob, I just took the IGI this morning and got a 100%. Now what is the process of getting the ground instructor certificate? Do I just go to the local FAA office and just take them my test results for the AGI and IGI?

Chad!

Of course I remember that thread! You've been extremely busy... and I'm very proud of you for sticking to task and getting some great scores as well!

Congrats!

Yes... just call up your local FSDO and let them know the tests you've completed, and that you'd like to set up an appointment to get your ground instructor certificate.

Hope that helps.

When you ask about the "Inst." oral exam guide... are you referring to the "Instrument" or the Instructor" guide?

Either way... reading those guides are great resoures... but remember... everything you are learning now is paving the way for the what you will need to know down the road. So... you are actually learning as you go.

The Jeppesen Intrument Handbook is a great resource as well. Also... remember that the CFI rating is NOT a test to see if you know everything... rather it's a test to see if you can teach what you do know... and if you have the resources to find the answers to questions you don't know.

Does that make sense??

Keep up the great work so far!

Bob

Hey Bob,
All that info. does help out a lot. I will call up the local FSDO and schedule an appointment soon. Regarding the Inst. oral exam guide. Sorry I didn't clarify what exactlly I meant by "Inst." Well, I was referring to the Instrument oral exam guide. I will be starting tomorrow with the instrument portion of the training, and really want to get myself ready for the oral portion of the checkride, so I was just curious on the best way to study that book? I imagine though that it probably is different for each person. I've read through the book twice now, and have started reading it again, but when I get done reading one section, I start over on that section so I get that info down. Once I feel good about it, then I move on. So maybe I will just stick to that.
Also, in that back of that book, there are a few pages that cover the instrument add-on to a persons CFI ticket. Do I need to study that at all at this phase, or do I not need to worry about that until the CFI portion?

Thanks again for your help. Take care.
