Default Introduction

Hello to all.

I'm Javier, from Corpus Christi, Texas. I am 24 and have a bachelors in Biology with a Minor in Chemistry from Texas A&M CC. For the past two years I have been trying to get into medical school, well I finally got accepted into one for this August, well after thinking about it for a while, I decided that I really did not want to be stuck in an office all the time. So instead I chose to follow my dreams and try to become a pilot. After a lot of research I decided I would go for it. I start my private at ATP-Houston on August 4th, followed by my commercial. I am still single, so I decided there is no better time to get started. I have had the same job for the past 10yrs at a sporting goods store, and currently manage it, and cant wait to get out of here and start on my new career.

Hi Javier!

Welcome to the forums!

Wow... Medical school or flight school... that's a tough one!

Congrats on your future training date! If you have any questions prior to starting... feel free to let me know. In the meantime... don't forget to be studying now for your written's if you can. Getting your PPL written done in advance is a great idea and if you can hack it... I'd get your IFR and II writtens done to. They are from the same study bank so you can take both tests within 5 minutes of each other.

Flight school may not be as hard as medical school... but it can get intense at times. So... it's best to be as prepared as you can be. Basically... what I'm trying to say is... Study, Study, Study!

Welcome again, and let me know if I can help along the way,

Bob

The IFR and II are both from the same question bank? That is good to know. Do I have to request that question bank from the school?

Thanks,
Javier

Hi Javier,

That's correct, the IFR and II are part of the same study bank, so it's very nice to just do both tests within 5 minutes of each other, since it is basically the same material.

In order to get the study materials... I think you have to pass the PPL portion of the course first. However, you can get a headstart on it by purchasing the GLEIM study book. It is the same one that ATP will send you once you finish the PPL program.

It may even be worth asking them to send it in advance... that way you don't have to purchase it. It's worth a shot...

Bob
