I think I wanna go down to Daytona, seems nice, and grandparents live an hour away, could always visit etc.
Now how is the Daytona school? I heard some bad things coming from dallas on some forum,, so I was wondering opinions at Daytona. As any one gone there and would like to share their thoughts? Also I'm a little confused about the housing and how its paid for. Is it included in the price form zero to CFI? And if you to graduate it and get hired by ATP, do they still pay for a room at the complex? I was reading something like they cover it but your pay is decreased or something. Thanks |

lol nothing huh?
Maybe you could move this into housing, I really just want to kow about after the training. If I get hired as an instructor, would ATP still pay for the housing and just less per hour working as an instructor? I read that somewhere... |

Ouch...
James, gotta give me a break there buddy. I've been enjoying a great weekend with my family before I'm off to work again. ![]() Regarding Daytona specifically... I really couldn't tell ya. I have no direct experience with it. What I can tell you is; Their program is set up so that no matter what location you attend, you'll have the same structure of training, in the same airplanes, from instructors who went through the same "standardization" training before being released to a location, and lastly from the same training syllabus. Me personally... I've always been a fan of attending a location that is completely different from where you've currently been flying so that you can maximize your experience and gain new experience at the same time. But, if you have relatives close by... then it may be a great opportunity to see them as well. It's usually nice to have a great home cooked dinner at Grandma's house too. ![]() Regarding the housing: If you are a 2 month Private or a 90 day ACPP student, then the housing is included. If you become an instructor for ATP then you are provided housing at a reduced rate, and yes, it comes out of your paycheck. The going rate right now is $300/mo if I remember correctly. Also James, If you have specific questions about a location then you may want to contact ATP directly. They will most likely be able to help you better on that subject. Most likely they won't be able to answer subjective questions like "Which location is best and why?", but they will be able to answer specifics like; Where is the housing located? What airport do they fly out of? How many aircraft are based there? How many instructors are currently there? etc. Apologies again for the delay James... please remember that we are working pilots with families and we do this on our free time. Our only direct connection to ATP is typically this forum, and thus subjective questions about ATP, like yours posted here, are sometimes hard for us to answer. I just don't want you to think that I was ignoring you in any way. Thanks James, Bob

No worries James!
Florida would be a real nice change from NY! ![]() The $300/mo is for housing once you become an employed instructor for ATP. So... if you become an instructor for ATP then you have the choice of living in their apartments for $300/mo or finding your own housing. Sorry I wasn't clear on that. Bob Edit: If you see another person in another coach's forum that is currently attending Daytona, and you want to ask them some specific questions, then you can communicate with them via the "Visitor Messaging" function in their profile. Hope that helps.
