Hey Folks, welcome to my forum. My name is Dan and I have always been into flying thanks to my father who is a corporate pilot. Even though I have been around aviation throughout my life, my decision to become a professional pilot did not come until 6 years after I finished college. I started out as a classical pianist in NYC and later turned to writing music for the theater.(I still write to this day) Along the way I worked in New York City for a large Publishing company as well. It was only a few years ago that I decided to just "check out" the details of becoming a private pilot and we all know how this story unfolds as it does for most people. I was hooked.
So there I was at the ripe old age of 28 with the ink on my private pilot's license still wet, when I decided to try to become a professional pilot. I knew that I needed to get my ratings fast and cost effectively in order to fulfill my new dream. That is when I chose ATP Flight School to complete my training. I went on to finish ATP's Airline Training Program in 81 days out in Riverside, CA in August, 2004. Shortly after that I began instructing for ATP out in Las Vegas to build up my time in order to take ATP's CRJ program in Jacksonville so I could eventually submit an application to ExpressJet (Continental Express). I got hired at ExpressJet with 581 hours total time(over 400 multi-engine hours) and flew as a First Officer based out of Newark NJ until I upgraded to Captain after 2 years and 7 months. I gained valuable flight time flying in all kinds of conditions all over the country. After being an airline pilot for a while at Expressjet, I decided to go on some interviews at corporate flight departments based out of Teterboro airport NJ which is about 15 miles north of Newark airport and closer to where I live. Through some contacts I had, I was able to get an interview at the Hertz Corporation. After meeting the people that run the flight department there, I decided to accept a job offer as Captain on a Dassault Falcon 900EX and a Falcon 2000, both configured as corporate airplanes. I have just started with Hertz and will share all of my experiences to those who are interested along with my schedule when I start flying trips. Destinations will include all of the US, Europe and Asia. Last edited by ExpressJet Bob; 12-22-2007 at 10:56 PM. Reason: Changed Jobs |
