Hey Chris,
I just thought I'd let you know I was approved for my financing loan. I'm ready to get this ball rolling. I'm going to go to the Phoenix location In either the first Monday of May or June. So I get to hang out in the heat all summer long. I'll keep you updated as my training begins. Thanks again, Daniel |

Daniel,
Thanks for the update and congratulations! PHX is a good place to train, the weather is usually great out there. From what I understand the do alot of night flying in PHX because of the heat. Just think of it as practicing for trans-con red eyes. LEt me know when you pick a start date please. Thanks. Chris |

Chris,
How are things? Just thought I update you and let you know I picked a start date for June 7th in Pheonix. I recieved all my books a couple of weeks ago and been hittin them pretty hard. Another good thing is I get to save alot of money on housing. I lucked out and my best friend/old college roomie lives in Mesa gettin his phd at ASU, and just so happens to have a room for me. He'll only charge me 300 as opposed to the shared bedroom 800 that ATP provides. So it seems the peices are finally coming together, cant wait. Take care, Daniel |

Daniel,
Congratulations on picking a start date. It is funny that you are starting on June 7th as that is the same day that I am going to 757 school. It sounds like you really did luck out on the housing. PHX is going to be hot, but you should have great weather. Please keep me up to date as you go through training and feel free to ask me any questions that you might have. Chris |

Hi Chris,
Its been a while just wanted to keep you updated where Im at. I started June 7th at ATP Pheonix which couldnt have been a better choice. I love the location, the instructors, and the weather. Never a problem getting a plane or having to worry about canceling a flight due to weather. Though the heats a little brutal during the day, but Im pretty use to getting up early and taking off by 5-6 am when its only 90 out. One of the best things I realized that each instructor here works with you making sure your getting everything and if you need some questions answered just look over your shoulder and 100% of the time someone is there willing to help. I also enjoy getting to fly everyday, and get to call that school. Well after 24 days I have logged 45 hours, 4 solo (i have two solo cross countrys in the next few days to knock out those remaining 6 hrs.), and next friday 9:30 am is my Private check ride. So in a little under a month if all goes to plan I will have my Private certificate. So guess its all workin out. By the way hows the 757 training going, hope thats moving along quite well for you. Another thing while its on my mind, another sweet thing about this airport is that each runway is 10,000ft so you could say we get every kind of traffic. Though we do have an airline, harriers and f-18s coming and going, the coolest was the new 747-8 has been calling one of our far taxi ways home for the past few weeks. They've been doing high temp performance tests on it but it was cool being in the pattern with it; one day where I was on right traffic for 12r ,and the Boeing was on left traffic for 12l we both ended up neck to neck(until he jetted past) on short and final litterly right next to each other 80 ft from the ground, I almost had him. |

Daniel,
I am glad that you are enjoying training so much. Hearing your story brings back good memories of my own training for me. This period in your career is stressful, but it can also be very fun. I hope that you get to fly into northern Arizona, especially up to Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon. Definetly try to fly over Sedona also. I really am envoius that you are getting to train out there :-) I am sure that you will do well on your private exam, just keep studying. I always looked at the oral exam as 75% of the battle. As you know, first impressions are very important. 757/767 training is going well, in fact I have my type ride (check ride) in about thirty minutes. I will let you know how it goes. Both airplanes are pretty impressive machines and I am looking forward to flying them. Getting to fly out of a bigger airport is definetly a good experience. I got my private at a little airport out in the country that never saw anything larger than a Piper Aztec. I was definetly a little intimidated when I started flying itno larger airports. After sharing the pattern with a 747 you shouldn't have that problem. Thanks for the update. Please let me know how your checkride goes. Chris

Hey Chris,
Just let you know I am now a Private Pilot, I passed my check ride with flying colors two weeks ago. I basically earned my certifacate in just over a month! I start the carrer portion on August 9th, so Im just taking this time off to knock out all my writtens. Cant wait to get into the seminole and start getting that multi time. How'd that type ride go? |

Daniel,
Congratulations and thanks for the update. Getting your license in a month is fantastic, it took me alot longer than that (at another school). Get as many of those writtens done now as you possibly can, it will make your life alot easier in the program. The Seminole is a great airplane and you should really enjoy flying it. My type ride went fine, and I have since finished my IOE flying. I am now on an overnight in Glasgow, Scotland. I really like flying the 757 and especially the 767. Thanks for the update. Chris
