Default About Me

Hey,
My name is Ivan Desindes. I am 17 years old and I am from Gadsden, Alabama. I first became interested in flying when I was about nine years old when my uncle, who is a pilot, flew his plane down from Tennessee and took me up. I got to sit in the front seat while my dad and my brother sat in the back seat. It was a piper warrior and I couldn't even see over the instument panel. Ever since then I have wanted to fly more than anything else in the world. I still go flying every now and then with my uncle in his Cessna 172. Im really wanting to start my flight training but I really can't afford it right now. Im trying to get into college and take some aviation courses. Some people tell me the aviation industry is not good right now, is that true? Should I still pursue my dream of being an airline pilot?

Ivan,

Welcome to the forums and thanks for posting! You beat me into a small airplane, I was 15 the first time I flew in a small airplane. Finances are always the most difficult aspect to flight training, but there are ways of finding help. You can talk to the admissions counselors at ATP, they are the financial experts. It is true that the aviation industry is in a down turn right now, but it will probably turn around when the rest of the economy does. All things are cyclical and this industry will improve in time. I would not say that you should give up your dream, but you need to weigh it carefully. At your age there are alot of options out there and you need to consider all of them.

Feel free to ask any questiosn that you might have, I will do my best to answer them. I look forward to looking with you as you explore this career option.

Chris
