Hi Dan,
My name is Chris and I like many other people have had a life-long dream of flying for the airlines. I graduated High School in 87' and was accepted to the Eastern Airlines Pilot Entry Program in Pasenda Texas after graduating. Just before I was ready to go out there, the airline went out of business. I attended Penn State and received my Bachelor's degree and took flying lessons on the side. I ended up earning my Private Pilot's license in the early 90's and have about 200 hours. Recently, I went back to school and earned my Masters degree. Throughout all of this, I still always had the dream to continue my way to the regionals and to the majors. I recently turned 40 !!! and would like to know if I am too old to consider getting my ratings and trying out for the airlines? I would not want to make the financial investment if I didn;t think I had a chance, so any info would be helpful. Each year for the last 15 years I told myself that I was too old to do this! If I would have just continued to progress in my ratings, I would most likely be flying for the majors now. Thanks!! Chris |

Hey Chris,
Age should not really a factor to being hired at the airlines. You will have to retire at 65, but you will still have a few good years at the airlines. So I would say go for it! I had a guy who had just turned 45 in my class at comair, so you should be fine. Keep the questions coming! Dan
