Hi all...
With my course potentially starting on August 3rd, I've been doing some research... Which location should I choose for my training? So far I've been looking at one of the ATP locations in Florida (Daytona Beach), that way I have less hassle when moving to Ft. Lauderdale for my Gulfstream internship. However, I'm still not locked into a location yet. I've also done some googling and while I always tend to judge things as I personally see them, I've noticed some ATP locations seem to have a better reputation than others (for example, Arlington seems to get very good reviews, wheras Houston seems to get some not so good). Firstly, I seem to recall reading somewhere that students will be flown from thier ATP training base to the Gulfstream academy when the time comes... How practical would this be with luggage etc (is this a comercial flight, or an ATP cross country flight)? Secondly, what ATP location would you personally recommend based on student performance and satisfaction? Lastly, Is there any real advantage to doing everything in Florida, other than the "ease of moving" element? Thanks in advance... |

Rob,
Sorry for the delay in reply here. The big difference between DAB and FLL will be the number of students. FLL will be a new training center so for the first few months at least, will have fewer students than DAB. You won't go wrong with either DAB or FLL. The Gulfstream program is very popular and there is a lot of interest in the FLL Training Center for the exact reason you're considering. Not having to move. There were issues in Houston quite a while ago. They were addressed as soon as it was brought to the attention of Management. Unfortunately the student had already decided to leave. As a result there is now scheduled communication between students and the Director of Training. The flight to FLL will be during your cross country flying in the seminole. You'll be able to pack everything you need for the trip. When you're at an airline you'll be able to pack everything for a 4 day trip into one carry on. I'd do FLL if I were in your shoes. Worry about flight training and not moving. |

Many thanks James...
That helps clear things up. As it happens, a few days ago I got my medical so I booked a September 7th start at Ft. Lauderdale... I'm a little unsure right now whether that means Ft. Lauderdale Executive, or Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood, but even if it's Executive, it's not far to go. Thanks again James... I'm looking forward to finally getting started!
