Default Hello Matthew

My name is Ramona and as a lot of other people these days,i am thinking about a change in career too.I am very much interested what classes i need to attend to receive my license as a commercial pilot.
I would like to mention that i have a bachelor degree already in Special Education,i am a new permanent resident also,so as much as i found out ,there are some opportunities in receiving financing to continue my studies.
I am very much interested to become a commercial pilot because i love to fly(so far i flew only as a client),i would love to have a less boring schedule ,where there is no day like the other(i am sure you know what i mean),i would love to be able to travel all over the world whenever i want to.
And above all that i love the benefits that a flight pilot have.
I will greatly appreciate any help you can give me in pursuing my dream .

Hey Ramona,

Thanks for the post! Where are you from and where do you live now?

Having your bachelor's degree is a good start toward becoming a commercial pilot. Are you interested in working for the airlines?

What it sounds like you need is flight training--you already have a 4-year degree. ATP offers several programs that would fit your needs depending on where you are located. It certainly takes a good bit of commitment on your part which is tough if you have a family or have to work full or part time. Financing is usually the biggest obstacle these days for those interested in flying.

Take a look at ATP's ACPP and let me know what you think (http://www.atpflightschool.com/airli...m/private.html).

Default Hello again

I am from Romania, and i came here in 2005,i live in Merrillville IN now.
Yes you are right, the only difficulty that i see is to have time to spend with my family( i have a 3 and half years old son) and to have time to go to classes too.
I have looked over the program you sent me and it seems pretty reasonable to go to school at least 10 days a month,i think i can do that, and to keep a job too and to spend time with my family.
Yes i am interested to work for companies as a commercial pilot.
Is it hard to receive financing to continue your studies?
Ramona

The self-pace program is definitely easier for those who have to balance training with work/family. It will be a pretty busy year or work/school but you can do it!

One of the greatest challenges these days is securing financing. With the economy in a slump and with all the credit issues that have been going on, banks are hesitant to give out loans. Student loans have always traditionally been easier to obtain, but even those are becoming few and far between. Only those with good credit and even a co-signer have had any luck.

Don't be discouraged, though, as the economy begins to turn around loans will begin to free up. If you do become serious about flight training, it may be a good idea to give 800-ALL-ATPS a call and talk to them about financing options. Since they are constantly changing these days, they'll have the most up-to-date info about loans, etc. Good luck and keep me posted!
