My name is Jaime D Gates and I have a strong interest in Commercial Aviation. It started 13 years ago, I attended the Boys Scouts of America through my church and we visited the air traffic control tower. The air traffic controllers allowed us to use some of the equipment and allowed us to stay and watch planes land and take off. Ever since the age of 10, I have been in love with airplanes. I want to begin training because that love that ive always had for airplanes has never gone astray. I want you to know that I do plan on becoming not just an airline pilot but one of the best. I strongly believe in giving my all to anything I have a strong passion in.
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York to James and Lena Gates on December 12, 1986. I was also born with a twin brother named Jarrarie D. Gates. I've been apart of many community service programs such as Stuy Park Lions club, Teens United For Fellowship(TUFF), and many others that opened doors for me while I was growing up. I always knew I wanted to do something with the airline industry, I just didnt know what I wanted to do. I recently graduated from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C., with a BS in Computer Science Information Systems. I knew all threw college that I wanted to fly planes. My last few jobs has been at the airport. It would give me a rush and it was also quite inspirational to see airplanes landing and taking off. I would often stop doing what I was suppose to do because I was watching planes take off. I can't wait to be in the cockpit looking out saying to myself that I made it! Thank you taking to help achieve a dream of mine Jaime D. Gates |

Jamie,
Thanks for the intro and welcome to the forums! I also have a twin brother who lives near me in Atlanta. Twins seem to share a bond that is unlike that between other siblings. Pretty cool! Pretty impressive resume! You've gotten a dose of the south (Charlotte--far cry from Brooklyn!) and ended up with an MIS degree along the way. Good work! I took an MIST class in college--taught me how to use MS Excel. That will always be a good degree to have in your back pocket. Have you looked into flight training options yet? There are quite a few out there. It really depends on your availability and cost. If you haven't taken a look at ATP's programs, do--it'll give you a good idea where to start regardless of what you end up doing. Let me know if you have any questions about the programs or about the airlines or flying in general. Thanks for the post! >Matt |
