I'm a army reserve retiree with 30 years commissioned service - retired in 2004 (not eligible for retired pay until 2012). I had Vietnam era eligibility as well as whatever might have come from 3 yearlong mobilizations in support of Bosnia, Desert Storm, and Iraqi Freedom. I have a private pilot SE-Land rating with about 300 hours. I've that the CFI-G rating can be obtained with as little as 25 hours, with commercial / glider exams and checkrides. I have my own S-LSA motor glider if that helps - can I use GI Bill to obtain CFI-G?

Hey R and/or V,
Thanks for your years of service--congrats on your retirement. I haven't overlooked your post, I'm just trying to look into the whole glider bit a little more--I'm just a lowly airline pilot! We don't worry about glider ratings unless we lose both engines! I'll get back to you soon! >Matt |
