Hello Matt and everyone,
I go by Andy, I知 about to turn 27, and I知 in the Air Force stationed at Beale AFB in northern California. I致e been in for 7 years and have one more year to go! I知 an electrician at the moment and work on the U-2. I was stationed in eastern Washington state at Fairchild AFB for the first three years of my enlistment working on the KC-135 (Boeing 707, basically, modified to transfer fuel in flight to another aircraft) I致e held a special place in my heart for planes since I was a kid; I thought working on them would be cool, which is why I joined the military. It did not take me long to figure out that I did not want to be the guy fixing them, I wanted to be the guy who breaks them : ) I have completed a bachelors degree in professional aeronautics with Embry-Riddle during my time in and I am 20 hours into my PPL, I was about to start my night and cross-country stuff but I had to deploy again. I planned on applying to become an air force pilot but multiple long deployments and thoughts of starting a family have since drove me away from that idea. So, it is my goal to become a civilian pilot, and as soon as I separate from the Air Force early next year, I値l be ready to start down that path. I知 currently deployed in support of the war on terror, and should be returning in a couple months. I値l be jumping back into Beale's aero club 172's and finishing my PPL. I can稚 wait! Also, I知 married, no children (yet) and own a home there in northern Thanks! |

Andy,
Thanks for the intro--sounds like you've had a pretty exciting career thus far! U-2s and KC-135s--don't get to see those everyday! We fly into Meridian, MS (Key Field) which must be a base for KC-135s because there's always a bunch on the ground and a few in the pattern. Sounds like your heart is already in the cockpit. You're off to a good start with the military background, the 4-year degree, and your PPL nearing its completion point. No kids yet and a supportive wife is a plus too. Sounds like you're well on your way to the airlines, Andy! In the mean time, be safe overseas and thanks for your service. I always try to think of you guys whenever I hear coworkers complaining about hotels and crew meals, etc! I'll check out your next post! >Matt |
