November was the completion of my first year probationary period. Now that it is over I am no longer seat locked to the Saab 340 turboprop. As was my plan all along I was hoping to switch over to the jet and get some experience on that aircraft. A vacancy bid announcement came out in December and it included spots for the Embraer Regional Jet in all of our bases. Last week I just found out that I have been awarded the ERJ in Chicago, which was my first choice too. I am scheduled to begin training in Dallas, TX March 26th and should complete the program somewhere near the end of May. Then it's off to I.O.E. flying and the hunt for an apartment. I've never been to Chicago (which is why it was my first choice) but I hear cool things about it from everyone I talk to. This fun ride of a journey continues.....

Congrats on the transfer! I didn't know Chicago at all until moving here just a few weeks ago--but it is a great town. And your timing should be great to avoid any snow that I'm sure will dump here any day.
We'll grab a bite at the United employee cafeteria when you get here---provided of course that by then I haven't switched places with you and transferred to LAX! |

Looking forward to it JJ, and I'm happy to start after the really cold season.
Melvin - yes I sure did. Besides being a prerequisite for many of the letters of agreement with ATP and the regionals I would have taken it anyway. I learned so much during that course. It was great. Michael |

congrats on the transfer Michael. Get out of this expensive lifestyle in Los Angeles... I want to get out of here so bad. I'm interviewing for a job with Rockwell and Collins which will pay me about $32/hr after my A&P certification which will pay off flight school. Congrats again~!!!

Thank you Peter. I'm liking California more and more with every week I live here. But Chicago sounds like a cool place too. I'm really looking forward to the jet training though.

Thank you. Sounds good to me. By the time I finish ground school and begin to make the move it should be near the end of May. I'll keep everyone posted on how all that goes.

Congrats Michael!
I know you and Kev will be busy in your ERJ class... but we'll have to hook up in DFW when you guys get a chance. Also... Chicago is definately a nice place. The cost of living alone makes it a bit more nicer. So.... you gonna ride your goldwing across the country? ![]() Bob |

Hey Bob,
Thank you sir. I'm not sure about the Goldwing. The beetle bug is going to get sold but I'm on the fence about the motorcycle. $2,000 and it could be yours....o.b.o.....anyone......Bueller? Depends if I can find a place to store it. Don't want it on the curb with the velvet seats. Michael |
