Kevin,

You mentioned that I should tell you what I like about the schools I am looking into. My uncle went to Embry Riddle, He recommended I look into this school. I contacted them and told them about what I want to do. I want to get my Commercial Multi with them. I would get around 8-10 hours with my checkride, plus I would also take a Multi-Engine Simulator to build up my Multi Time, The total cost would be around $5200. The Simulator is $70 an hour for Multi Time which I think is very good. Can you log simulator time as actual time? The course would last around 6 days to do all of that. What do you think of this option? Thanks again.

Personally, I like the ATP option but I am obviously biast.

I think on paper you get much more bang for your buck with ATP. If you look at the last post I wrote and compare the programs that ATP offers with the school in Long Beach, it looks like you get much more flight time and simulator time with ATP. This experience is great. A lot of ATP's training programs start in the simulator. This is so you can fine tune your skills before getting in the airplane. Once you step foot in the airplane, you will already have had several hours in the simulator running through the procedures. This makes the transition very easy and it makes you much more comfortable getting in the airplane rather than jumping in cold turkey.

Simulator time can only be used for training and to help stay current depending on the type of simulator used. Basically, you cannot log it towards your total flight time or actual instrument time. There is usually a Simulator section for your log book which is where you can log this time in.

The programs you're looking at are good and will definitely help you accomplish your goals. What matter's most is how you feel about the schools. You have to ask yourself which school fits your personality the best and which one you feel most comfortable with.

I hope this helps out. Let me know what you think.
