I heard about the DHL deal. No good... DHL is moving all of their shipping to UPS I heard. Is the reasoning due to fuel prices and the lack of fuel efficiency of the DC-9 fleet? I really don't know the details.
I have heard about ARI Ben. I met someone from there that was in my CFI class at ATP in JAX and they claimed to have had a good experience with them. Of course they were doing their CFI training with ATP though, I don't believe that Ari Ben has a CFI program. All of the 'time building' is split with another pilot, so half of the time you are logging as a 'safety pilot' meaning you are not doing the flying, but you are logging pilot in command time. It's kind of a loop in the system, but it works. Keep investigating, and make sure they have good maintenance (you would understand this) and good customer service.
Looks like now is the time to take this involuntary layoff and go with it. The timing could be right to make the career change. Let me know what other advice/info I can lend. Good luck sir!
