What made you want to be an airline pilot?
Hello guys and gals-
This is my first post. I have joined these forums purely for one reason- to educate future regional airline pilots about their career choices regarding both the school they choose and the airline they choose to fly for.
I grew up in Maine and got into flying through some seaplane flying with a friend of the family. I began working on a farm before sixth grade(!) in order to begin saving up for my private license. Once I began working on my private I was hooked and I haven't looked back. I wanted to combine my training with a four year degree so I attended Daniel Webster College's aviation program in Nashua, NH. As soon as I attained my commercial I enrolled in ATP's CFI program where I successfully earned the CFI - CFII - MEI and used them to teach and gain hours to meet regional airline mins.
I currently work for ExpressJet Airlines flying the Embraer 135/145 out of Newark on the Continental Express side of the operation. I live in a crashpad right now but plan on permanently locating here to avoid commuting and to have the flexibility to pick up extra flying to increase the monthly paycheck.
I just turned 24 and have other hobbies that include enjoying the outdoors, water skiing, hiking and boating.
That's about enough for an intro... I'll post another thread in a bit regarding how much I enjoy working for XJT.
