Hi, I’m Adam
I like walks on the beach, oops, wrong site (LOL). Seriously, how ya doin? I’m Adam from the Bronx, NYC, and like all of you, I love to fly! Unfortunately, growing up in NYC didn’t afford me many opportunities in aviation (neither JFK nor LGA have flight schools). I’ve been self employed most of my life (owned a pizzeria on the Maryland shore amongst other things), always did well financially, but couldn’t shake the flying bug. Finally got my private back in ‘92 (took me a painfully long and frustrating year to do it), but never really had time to enjoy or pursue it further.
About 3 years ago I was looking at my rapidly approaching 40th birthday coming up and decided that I wanted to spend the rest of my life doing something I enjoy. That meant either being a rockstar or a pilot. I don’t look so hot in spandex so I figured I’d go flying. After my private pilot fiasco it seemed prudent to take some time off and attend flight school full time. Everybody looks great on a website so I flew down to Florida, stole mom’s car, and spent a week visiting literally every "name" flight school in the state. After many sleepless nights I settled on ATP. I found a buyer for my restaurant and started their 90 day Career Pilot Program in November of ‘03. Good news, after 82 days I had all my licenses and ratings, bad news, the buyer dropped out so I had to return to Maryland for another season. During the summer of ‘04, I found another buyer, called ATP, and was hired as an instructor in Sept. I worked with ATP in Trenton NJ till March of ‘05, when I was hired as a First Officer on the Embraer 145 with ExpressJet (aka Continental Express) in Newark. I have been living the dream (no, I’m not being sarcastic) ever since. I’m making one tenth of what I used to but I’m happier than ever! I spend my days flying really nice airplanes, hanging out up front with some great people and going places most will never see. Life is good.
